The home of six-time World Champion and Olympic medalist MC Mary Kom in Faridabad was burgled. Police have started an investigation and are identifying the thieves from CCTV footage.
Faridabad: A theft has been reported at the Faridabad residence of six-time World Champion and Olympic medalist Indian boxer MC Mary Kom. The incident occurred on Saturday when Mary Kom was in Sohra, Meghalaya, to participate in a marathon event. Her neighbours informed her about the theft, and the police were immediately notified.
Theft at Mary Kom's House Captured on CCTV
CCTV footage shows thieves taking a TV and other items from Mary Kom's house. Neighbours stated that the incident took place on September 24. No one was present at home during the theft, allowing the culprits to easily carry out their act.
Police have formed six different teams working to arrest the thieves. Officials are attempting to identify the culprits with the help of CCTV footage. The full investigation will become clearer once Mary Kom returns home.
Mary Kom's Statement
Speaking to ANI, Mary Kom stated that she received information about the theft from her neighbours. She mentioned that she would only be able to ascertain the exact items stolen by the thieves after reaching home. She appealed to her fans to remain patient.
She further added that upon learning of the theft, she immediately informed the police and hopes that all stolen items will be recovered soon. Her neighbours have also assured full cooperation to assist the police.
Mary Kom's Sporting Career
MC Mary Kom won a bronze medal for India at the London 2012 Olympics. After this, she took a break from the sport for some time. In 2018, she made a spectacular comeback at the World Championships held in Delhi, defeating Ukraine's Hanna Okhota 5-0 to clinch her sixth world title.
This achievement places her among the most successful male and female boxers. A year later, she also won her eighth world medal, which is the highest record for any boxer to date.
