MediaTek has launched its new flagship mobile chipset, Dimensity 9500, at IMC 2025, offering high performance and improved power efficiency for AI and gaming. Based on a 3nm process, this chip surpasses previous models in graphics, AI tasks, and energy conservation. The company also announced the successful testing of its next-generation 2nm process chip.
Mobile Chipset: At the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, MediaTek unveiled its new flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9500, engineered to deliver high performance and superior battery efficiency for AI and console-level gaming. Fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process, this chip is slated for integration into smartphones such as the OPPO Find X9 Series. During IMC 2025, MediaTek also announced the successful testing of its next-generation 2nm process chip, poised to enable faster and more energy-efficient smartphones in the future.
Key Features of Dimensity 9500
The Dimensity 9500 chipset is built on TSMC's 3nm (N3P) process and incorporates a new third-generation All-Big-Core CPU architecture. This chip comprises one ultra-core, three premium cores, and four performance cores. MediaTek states that this design delivers 32% better single-core and 17% enhanced multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, while simultaneously reducing power consumption by up to 55%. For graphics, it utilizes the new Arm G1-Ultra GPU, which supports 120FPS ray-tracing, as well as Unreal Engine's Mega Light and Nanite technologies.
Improvements in AI and Generative Tasks
The Dimensity 9500 features an NPU with the 990 Generative AI Engine 2.0, capable of seamlessly handling advanced AI tasks such as 4K text-to-image generation. Its BitNet 1.58-bit processing technology reduces power consumption by up to 33%, enabling prolonged execution of intensive AI applications.
Preparing for the Future: 2nm Process
MediaTek further announced that its next-generation flagship processor is now ready on TSMC's 2nm (N2P) process. This represents the first process incorporating a nanosheet transistor structure, offering 18% greater performance and 36% lower power consumption compared to the current N3E. Volume production for this chip is anticipated to commence by the end of 2026.
Partners and Smartphone Integration
MediaTek highlighted its robust collaborations with partners including Vivo, OPPO, Samsung, Tecno, and Lava. OPPO specifically confirmed that its upcoming Find X9 Series will be powered by the Dimensity 9500 processor. The company consistently showcases its technological leadership in both the Indian and global tech markets, with its presentation at IMC 2025 serving as a testament to this fact.
