Meghalaya SIT Interrogates Family of Sonam in Transporter Murder Case

Meghalaya SIT Interrogates Sonam's Family in Indore Transporter Murder Case. Search Conducted; Govind May Be Taken to Shillong. Investigation Continues.

Raja Raghuvanshi Case: The Meghalaya Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned Sonam Raghuvanshi's parents and brother in Indore as part of the investigation into the murder of transporter Raja Raghuvanshi. The team arrived in Indore on Wednesday and first took a separate statement from Sonam's brother, Govind. They then proceeded to his home in Govind Nagar, where they also questioned Sonam's parents, Devi Singh and Sangita.

Search of Suitcase and Almirah

The SIT searched Sonam's home, including suitcases, wardrobes, and drawers. The entire process was videographed. The Indore Crime Branch team also assisted in the investigation. Inconsistencies emerged in the statements given by Sonam's family, leading the police to record separate statements.

A List of 50 Questions Prepared

The SIT from Meghalaya had prepared 50 questions for Sonam and her family. Based on these questions, the officers interrogated Devi Singh, Sangita, and Govind separately. When discrepancies appeared in their statements, the police immediately questioned Sonam via video call in Shillong.

Search of Govind's Office and Warehouse

The SIT team also searched Govind's office in Vijay Nagar, located on the third floor and previously managed by Sonam. The team questioned the employees separately. One employee, Lalit, was reprimanded by the police for attempting to mislead the team. The police informed him that the office was a hawala center and that Raja conducted financial transactions from there.

Team Also Reaches Govind's Warehouse in Lasudia Mauri

After searching the office, the team went to Govind's warehouse in Lasudia Mauri and conducted an investigation there. The police suspect that some materials related to the murder may have been hidden at these locations.

Devi Singh: She was a bit stubborn, quick to anger. She tied Rakhi to Raja.

2. Did Sonam hate Raja?

Sangita: There might have been some arguments. If she hated him, why would she marry him?

3. Why wasn't there any information about long phone conversations between Sonam and Raja?

Govind: I once saw the call recording and CCTV footage. The conversations were work-related.

4. When did Sonam plan to go to Meghalaya?

Govind: She went to Ujjain on May 17th. The tickets were booked before that.

5. Sonam called on June 8th. What did she say?

Govind: She said, "It's Bitti speaking." I wasn't sure, so I checked on video call.

6. Have you ever seen Vishal, Akash, and Anand in the office?

Govind: No, they never came to my office. They might have been Raja's friends.

Sonam and Other Accused to Appear in Court

The eight-day remand of Sonam and four other accused arrested by the SIT ends on June 19th. They will be produced before a Shillong court. The police will request the court to extend the remand for further interrogation.

Govind May Be Taken to Shillong

The SIT team has found inconsistencies in the statements of Sonam and Raja. Therefore, the police are planning to take Govind to Shillong to conduct a face-to-face interrogation with Sonam. This is expected to bring the truth to light.

Second Weapon Recovered from Ditch

Information about another weapon used in the murder has emerged. The accused stated they used a dao with a steel handle. This weapon was thrown into a ditch near Wei Sau Dang Fall in Sohra. The SDERF team recovered the weapon using a metal detector.
