Late Wednesday night, a sudden surge in the river's flow swept away 20 nomadic people living temporarily under the Manpur six-lane bridge. This incident occurred at night while most were asleep, preventing them from escaping.
Panic at the scene
The loud noise and b water current panicked the people, who raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents. Upon receiving information about the incident, Mufassil police station arrived at the scene and immediately initiated relief efforts. The police promptly informed the district administration, leading to the deployment of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for rescue operations.

Around 3 AM on Thursday, the SDRF team reached the scene and commenced rescue operations. The team swiftly rescued 18 nomadic people, who were transported to a safe location for first aid and necessary assistance. Two individuals remain missing, and the search continues.

The SDRF team is relentlessly searching for the two missing individuals. The administration is conducting a search operation in the vicinity of the river. Rescued individuals reported that two companions were swept away by the b current and have not been seen since, increasing the rescue team's concern and responsibility.

Anticipating further rainfall in the coming days, the administration urged people to relocate from the riverbanks to safer locations.
