The ILT20 2025-26 has had a splendid start, but MI Emirates has suffered a major setback due to the injury of all-rounder Jordan Thompson.
Sports News: The current season of ILT20 2025-26 has commenced in spectacular fashion, but the MI Emirates team has faced a major blow with all-rounder Jordan Thompson's injury. Thompson's injury has ruled him out for the entire season. Seizing this opportunity, the team management has made a swift decision to include one of the world's finest spinners, Rashid Khan, in the squad.
Rashid Khan's Return to the Team
The 27-year-old Afghan star spinner, Rashid Khan, has previously played for MI Emirates. In 2023, he played two matches for the team, taking 4 crucial wickets. Furthermore, Rashid is also the captain of MI Cape Town in SA20, and this year he led his team to their first title against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Rashid Khan has also been active in MLC (Major League Cricket). Playing for MI New York in 2023 and 2024, he proved his mettle in T20 cricket. Given his experience and reliability, MI Emirates will now receive his support as a b player this season.
Stellar T20 Record
Rashid Khan's achievements in T20 cricket are commendable. According to an ESPNcricinfo report, he has played a total of 500 T20 matches to date, claiming 681 wickets. His fast and flat bowling, along with his flick and yorker abilities, place him among the world's most dangerous bowlers in T20.
Although the current ILT20 season runs until January 4, 2026, Rashid will only be available for MI Emirates until December 20. Following this, he will take command of MI Cape Town in the SA20 series. MI Cape Town's first match in SA20 is against Durban Super Giants on December 26. Due to this, it is possible that he may exit the ILT20 mid-season.
