Mithun Chakraborty sharply responded to Bilawal Bhutto's threat regarding the Indus Waters Treaty dispute, saying if they lose their minds, BrahMos missiles will be fired at Pakistan one after another.
Kolkata: Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has given a sharp response to the threat issued by former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto to India regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. Speaking to reporters in Kolkata on Tuesday, Mithun warned that if Pakistan continues to make such statements and "loses its mind," BrahMos missiles will be launched one after another.
Mithun Chakraborty's Sarcastic Response
Mithun sarcastically said that India has also considered a plan in which 1.4 billion people will urinate in a dam and then open that dam, causing a tsunami. He clarified that his statement was not for the common people of Pakistan but directly for Bilawal Bhutto. Mithun said, "I have no complaints against the people of Pakistan. I said all this for him (Bilawal)."
Bilawal Bhutto's Threat
Earlier on Tuesday, Bilawal Bhutto claimed that the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty is an "attack on the history, culture, and civilization" of Pakistan, especially the Sindh province. He said, "If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces an attack on the Indus River, he is attacking our history, our culture, and our civilization." Bhutto also said that the people of Pakistan have the strength to face Modi in a state of war.
Statement After Army Chief's Nuclear Threat
Bilawal's statement came at a time when Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir issued a nuclear threat to India from American soil. Munir had said that if Pakistan's existence is threatened, it could use its nuclear weapons to destroy "half the world."
Background of the Indus Waters Treaty Dispute
The Indus Waters Treaty was signed between India and Pakistan in 1960, which is an agreement on the water sharing of the Indus River and its tributaries. But after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, in which 26 people died, India suspended this treaty in April 2024. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it clear that this agreement will not be restored now.
India's Official Response
The Ministry of External Affairs said that Pakistan's repeated nuclear threats raise serious questions about the safety of its nuclear command and control system. The ministry reiterated that India will not bow down to "nuclear blackmail" and will take all necessary steps to protect its national security.
