RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat recently stated that the idea of 'Hindu Rashtra' should not be associated with any regional or political power. He clarified that its true meaning is to ensure justice for all without discrimination, regardless of their religion, language, or ideology.
New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has once again clarified that misconceptions are often spread regarding the concept of "Hindu Rashtra." He stated that Hindu Rashtra does not mean political power or governance, but rather ensuring justice and equality for all citizens without any discrimination.
Bhagwat made these remarks at the inaugural ceremony of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's centenary lecture series "100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons." His statement is considered an important message for Indian politics and particularly for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Bhagwat's Clear Message: 'We Don't Ask From Anyone'
In his address, Mohan Bhagwat clarified that the Sangh does not directly or indirectly control any affiliated organization. All organizations are independent and autonomous. He said, "We don't ask from anyone." The RSS only works for society. This statement is being seen in political circles as an advice for the BJP, especially when various discussions are ongoing regarding the party leadership and organizational issues.
Bhagwat said that Hindu Rashtra does not mean isolating or excluding anyone. Having a different ideology is not a crime. He explained that "nation" cannot be limited to land or government as in Western countries. According to him, the essence of Hindu Rashtra is that every citizen receives justice and equal opportunities, regardless of their religion, language, or ideology. He said that "Hindu Rashtra does not mean intimidating or threatening anyone, but rather taking everyone along."
Meaning of the Word 'Hindu'
In his address, the RSS chief also explained the word 'Hindu.' He said that the meaning of Hindu is – "to choose your own path and respect the religion of others." He also added that one who follows this tradition is a Hindu, and the origin of this tradition is Bharatvarsh. That is, the real essence of Hindu Dharma is – to live together and respect everyone.
Bhagwat said that the soul of the RSS resides in the last line of its prayer, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai." The Sangh's objective has always been to work for the upliftment of India. He emphasized that the time has come for India to play its role in the world and contribute as a world leader. Bhagwat's statement comes at a time when discussions are intensifying regarding the BJP's next president. In this context, the Sangh chief's words are also being considered a political signal.
