The monsoon has become active again in Uttar Pradesh, with heavy rainfall continuing across several parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in several districts over the coming days and warned of a risk of flash floods in low-lying areas of western Uttar Pradesh.
Monsoon activity has intensified again in Uttar Pradesh, with several districts receiving heavy rainfall. According to the weather department, heavy rain may continue in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on 15 August and over the next few days. Residents of low-lying areas in several districts of western Uttar Pradesh have been advised to remain alert due to the risk of sudden flooding.
During the past 24 hours, several parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh received heavy to very heavy rainfall, while heavy rain was also recorded at several locations in western Uttar Pradesh. Bhirgughat in Sitapur recorded the highest rainfall at 13 centimetres, followed by Bilari in Moradabad with 9 centimetres.
According to the weather department, a cyclonic circulation has formed at lower atmospheric levels over northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. Under its influence, rainfall activity is expected to continue across the state over the coming days.

According to the weather department's forecast, eastern Uttar Pradesh may receive heavy rainfall between 14 and 16 August. Rainfall is also expected to continue in eastern parts on 18 and 19 August. In western Uttar Pradesh, heavy rainfall has been forecast for 15 and 18 August.
Some areas may also receive very heavy rainfall. Heavy rain is forecast in parts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh on 14 August and during 16 and 17 August. Persistent rainfall may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and could affect local traffic
Amid the rainfall, the risk of flash floods has also increased in several districts of western Uttar Pradesh. Over the next 24 hours, particular caution has been advised in some low-lying areas of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Amroha, Rampur, Sambhal, Badaun, Bulandshahr and Kasganj.
In areas already affected by waterlogging, continued rainfall could worsen conditions. The local administration and residents have been advised to monitor weather-related updates.
In view of the continuing rainfall, farmers have been advised to make arrangements for the drainage of excess water from fields. Water accumulation may damage crops of pigeon pea, maize, groundnut, sesame, paddy and vegetables, making proper drainage arrangements necessary.
The public has also been advised to exercise caution during adverse weather. People have been advised to avoid standing under trees during thunderstorms or b winds and to maintain distance from electrical equipment. In view of the weather conditions, people should avoid unnecessary travel to waterlogged and vulnerable areas.
