Nabinagar Constituency: A Key Battleground in Bihar Assembly Elections 2025

In anticipation of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Nabinagar constituency is in the political spotlight. Established in 1967, this seat is considered one of the six assembly constituencies under the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha. It comprises 15 villages and a Nagar Panchayat, with most settlements situated along the banks of the Ganges River.

Nabinagar: All eyes will be on the Nabinagar seat in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. This seat, widely considered a bhold of the JDU, is currently held by the RJD. However, with the unity of the NDA this time, the JDU's victory is being considered certain. Nevertheless, internal strife within the NDA alliance could prove to be a significant challenge.

Disputes are possible between the BJP, JDU, and LJP over seat allocation. In the previous election as well, the JDU faced defeat due to the rebellion by Chirag Paswan, which led to the RJD's victory.

Political Equations and NDA's Position

In the 2025 elections, all attention will be focused on the Nabinagar seat, specifically on the JDU and RJD. This time, if the NDA alliance remains completely united, the JDU's victory is anticipated. However, disputes may emerge between the BJP, JDU, and LJP Ram Vilas over seat distribution within the alliance. In the previous election, the JDU had to face defeat due to Chirag Paswan's rebellion, which benefited the RJD.

Analysts believe that if the NDA alliance manages to overcome its internal conflicts, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar could strengthen the prospects of victory on this seat.

Nabinagar's Electoral History

The electoral history of the Nabinagar assembly constituency has been quite interesting.

  • A total of 15 elections have been held for this seat so far.
  • The JDU has emerged victorious 6 times.
  • In 2020, this seat went to the RJD for the first time.
  • The Congress had won here three times, the last being in 1980.
  • The Janata Dal secured victory twice, while the Bharatiya Jan Sangh and Lok Dal each won once.

Historical data indicates a b hold by the JDU, but due to political shifts and alliance fluctuations, the RJD has also capitalized on opportunities. The strategic intervention of Prashant Kishor in this year's election could also prove significant in Nabinagar. His influence is being observed across all seats, and if his impact is more pronounced in Nabinagar, it could benefit either the RJD or the JDU.
