Today, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, he is being remembered across the country. At Rajghat in the capital Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several central leaders and dignitaries, arrived and paid tribute to Bapu.
New Delhi: Today, the 156th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, is being celebrated with reverence and respect across the country and the world. On this occasion, at Rajghat in the capital Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, along with many senior leaders and dignitaries, paid homage to Bapu. Prime Minister Modi arrived at Rajghat in the morning and paid his respects by laying floral tributes at Gandhiji's samadhi.
During this, he said that Bapu's ideals of truth and non-violence are as relevant today as they were during the freedom struggle. He urged the countrymen to contribute to nation-building and social development by following the path shown by Gandhiji. Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan also paid his tributes to Gandhiji at Rajghat and described his ideas as a guide for future generations. He stated that Gandhiji's teachings inspire us to move forward on the path of equality, justice, and humanity.
Tributes Also Paid in States
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, special programs were also organized in various states. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that today the whole world ponders whether independence was possible solely through truth and non-violence. He said, “India proved it, and the Swadeshi movement also played a crucial role in the freedom struggle. Gandhiji instilled in us the belief that liberation from centuries of slavery could be achieved through truth, non-violence, and Swadeshi (self-reliance).”
Similarly, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma laid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the State Secretariat premises in Jaipur. He stated that Gandhiji is not just an inspiration for India, but for all of humanity.
Special programs were organized across the country on this occasion. Debate competitions, seminars, and exhibitions were organized by schools, colleges, and social organizations. Cleanliness drives and social awareness rallies were held in many places. Citizens reiterated Gandhiji's message of cleanliness and self-reliance.
