New Bhagalpur Municipal Commissioner Issues Strict Work Discipline Directives

The newly appointed Municipal Commissioner of Bhagalpur assumed charge and immediately issued clear instructions to officials and employees that any laxity in work would not be tolerated, triggering heightened activity within the municipal administration.

In his first review meeting with officials, the Municipal Commissioner sought detailed updates on city sanitation, water supply, drain cleaning, road repairs, and the status of pending projects. Expressing dissatisfaction over slow progress in several areas, he stated that paper reports would no longer suffice and that tangible work on the ground must be visible.

The Municipal Commissioner directed that accountability be clearly fixed for every department and branch. He said that any negligence or unnecessary delay in work would result in direct action against the concerned officers and employees. He reiterated that sensitivity and timely execution are essential in matters related to public services.

During the review, he instructed officials to prioritise drain cleaning before the monsoon, ensure regular garbage collection, and maintain uninterrupted drinking water supply. He also directed that public complaints be resolved promptly so that citizens are not required to make repeated visits to the municipal office.

The Municipal Commissioner further instructed officers to remain active in the field rather than being confined to offices. He asked them to conduct on-site inspections, submit reports based on direct observation, and resolve issues at the location itself. He warned that deficiencies found during future inspections would invite action.

Following his strict stance, increased activity has been observed among municipal corporation employees. The Municipal Commissioner stated that all officials and staff must work with responsibility for the development of Bhagalpur and for improving civic administration, emphasising that prompt service delivery would be the administration’s priority.
