New GST Rates: Essential Items Become Cheaper Nationwide, Public Gets Relief Ahead of Diwali

Today, new GST rates have come into effect nationwide. This will make everyday essential items cheaper and provide relief to the public. PM Modi called it the need of the hour, while Eknath Shinde termed it a Diwali bonanza and a masterstroke.

GST: New GST (Goods and Services Tax) rates have been implemented across the country from September 22. This decision by the central government is considered a relief for the general public, as it will make everyday essential items more affordable. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described this as a reform undertaken keeping in mind India's current needs and future aspirations. This step is expected not only to boost consumption and production but also to contribute to job creation.

Change from Four to Two Slabs

Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde openly lauded this decision. He stated that earlier, GST had four slabs, but now only two main slabs remain—5 percent and 18 percent. This significant change has simplified the tax structure, and its direct impact will be felt by common people, the middle class, farmers, and the business community.

A Gift of Relief Before Diwali

Eknath Shinde termed the reduction in GST rates a 'Diwali bonanza.' He said that everyday essential items have been made cheaper, which will reduce the burden on the common person's pocket. This step is considered a significant gift for the public ahead of Diwali. Shinde added that this decision will boost consumption and bring vibrancy back to the market.

PM Modi's Address

In his address to the nation on Sunday evening at 5 PM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that reforms are a continuous process. As national needs change over time, it becomes essential to introduce new reforms. He emphasized that the new GST framework will have only two main slabs, which will make the system simpler and more transparent. PM Modi added that this change will not only meet current requirements but also strengthen the country's economic sovereignty in the coming years.

Shinde Thanks PM Modi

Eknath Shinde said that this step is truly revolutionary. He termed it 'Modi's Masterstroke.' Shinde stated that this is a life-changing decision because it will boost consumption, production, and employment. He claimed that it will provide significant relief to small traders, shopkeepers, and farmers.

Advice to the Opposition

Deputy CM Shinde appealed to the opposition to welcome this decision, as it has been taken in the interest of 140 crore Indians. He stated that this reform is not for any single class but for the entire society. The opposition should rise above politics and prioritize the welfare of the people.

Impact on Everyday Essentials

The biggest impact of the new GST rates will be on everyday essential items. Products like cooking oil, soap, toothpaste, household appliances, and clothing will become cheaper than before. This is also expected to help control inflation. Experts believe that this will increase consumer spending, which will boost the economy.
