To address the situation, the administration and municipal corporation have installed high-capacity pumps at 28 locations across the city. The pumps are being used to remove water quickly from waterlogged areas. Sanitation and drainage teams have also been deployed continuously in the field.
Officials said sensitive underpasses, major intersections and waterlogged areas are being monitored continuously. The control room is also tracking the situation to enable immediate action in the event of any emergency.
The rainfall has led to a drop in temperature, providing relief from humid and hot weather. However, continuous rain has disrupted daily activities at several locations. The local administration has advised people to avoid waterlogged routes and stay away from electric poles and exposed wires.
The Health Department has appealed to residents to maintain cleanliness during the rainy season, avoid contaminated water and remain alert against mosquito-borne diseases. Motorists have also been advised to drive slowly on slippery roads and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
According to the IMD, monsoon activity may continue for some time. If rainfall persists, the waterlogging situation may worsen. The administration has directed all concerned departments to remain on alert and maintain preparedness for relief and rescue operations.
