Norah Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ Faces Criticism Over Lyrics

The song ‘ over its lyrics following its March 15 release. Reactions from singer Armaan Malik, social media users, and a National Human Rights Commission member have raised concerns, with the track linked to the film ‘KD: The Devil’, scheduled for release on April 30.

Norah Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt’s song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ has drawn criticism shortly after its release, with objections raised over its lyrics on social media.

The track was released on Sunday, March 15, and quickly became a subject of discussion online. Several users described the lyrics as containing double meanings and termed them objectionable. Singer Armaan Malik also shared his reaction on social media, stating that he replayed the song to confirm what he had heard and expressed concern over the declining standard of commercial songwriting.

In the song, Norah Fatehi is seen performing a dance sequence in a ghaghra choli. While her performance received appreciation from viewers, the lyrics have been widely criticised. The track is sung by Mangli, written by Rakeeb Alam, and composed by Arjun Janya.

‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ is part of the film ‘KD: The Devil’, which features Dhruva Sarja in a lead role and is directed by Prem. The film also stars Shilpa Shetty, V. Ravichandran, and Ramesh Aravind. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 30.

Social media users expressed b reactions to the song. One user questioned how such content reached mainstream platforms, while another raised concerns about the song being played in public spaces and its potential impact on women’s comfort.

Priyank Kanoongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission, also objected to the song. He questioned whether it could be viewed by families together and criticised the certification process, stating that allowing such content was inappropriate. He further indicated that action could be initiated against the song.

Armaan Malik’s comments on the issue also circulated widely online. He reiterated his concern over the quality of commercial songwriting and stated that such content could have a negative impact on society.
