Pakistan: Field Marshal Asim Munir has been appointed as Pakistan's first Chief Defense Forces (CDF). In his first address in his new role, Munir warned India, stating that India should not harbor any illusions. He clarified that Pakistan would respond even more sternly to any aggressive actions by India in the future. Munir described the establishment of the newly formed Defense Force Headquarters as historic, stating that its objective is to promote integrated operations among the Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Appointment to CDF Post

Asim Munir will now hold the positions of both Army Chief and CDF. This position has been created under the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy (Amendment) Bill 2025, passed by President Zardari. Munir is Pakistan's second Field Marshal and the first to be promoted to Field Marshal in the last six decades. His tenure will last for the next five years, during which he will coordinate the operations of all three services.

Integration of Three Services

In his address, Munir stated that in view of evolving and increasing threats, the integration of the three services is the need of the hour. He informed that the newly established Defense Force Headquarters will integrate and harmonize the functions of all three services.

Despite this, each service will maintain its individual autonomy and organizational structure. Munir stated that synergy at the higher command level would strengthen the capabilities and combat strategies of the three services.

Appreciation for Pakistan Army

Asim Munir praised the performance of the Pakistani public and army. He cited the Pakistani army's experience during Operation Sindoor as a case study for future conflicts. Munir stated that warfare is no longer confined to land, air, or sea, but has expanded to cyberspace, electromagnetic spectrum, space, information operations, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. He emphasized that the armed forces must adapt themselves to the new requirements of modern warfare.

Aggressive Stance Against India

In his first statement, Munir issued a clear warning to India. He stated that India should not harbor any illusions, and if India takes any aggressive steps in the future, the response will be even more severe. His statement is being seen as an indication of further escalation in the tense military situation between Pakistan and India.

Asim Munir stated that the newly established CDF Headquarters would be responsible for the collective operations and strategy formulation of the three services. This would help Pakistan's armed forces develop multi-domain warfare capabilities.
