Sultanpur District: Allegations of Fraud in Senior Citizen Pension Scheme Emerge in Pedeer Village
A case of fraud has surfaced in the elderly pension scheme in Pedeer village, Sultanpur district. Gram Pradhan (Village Head) Kuldeep Maurya is accused of manipulating his mother, Prema Devi’s, documents to secure pension approval. The complaint alleges that Prema Devi’s actual birthdate is 1973, but it was fraudulently recorded as 1961 in the documents to qualify for the pension.
The complainant asserts that despite Prema Devi’s age not qualifying her for the pension according to official records, a consistent sum of three thousand rupees has been deposited into her bank account every three months for a prolonged period. A recent pension installment was also disbursed on October 15th.
Following the receipt of the complaint, the administration has issued instructions for an investigation. The concerned Block Development Officer has been directed to review the entire case and submit a report.
Meanwhile, the Gram Pradhan has dismissed the allegations against him as baseless, stating that the age recorded in the documents is accurate and that the pension approval was granted entirely in accordance with the rules. The administration is expected to complete the investigation shortly and determine further action.
