Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently stated at an event that the number of 'Lakhpati Didis' is continuously increasing in the country and in Bihar. This is a significant step towards women empowerment. He informed that the government has set a target to make 3 crore women 'Lakhpati Didis' across India, out of which 1 crore women have already achieved this target. In Bihar, more than 20 lakh women have become 'Lakhpati Didis'. On this occasion, PM Modi said that he and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are always in support of women and will guide them.

Objective of the Lakhpati Didi Scheme

The main objective of the Lakhpati Didi scheme is to empower women economically. Under this, financial assistance, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities are provided to women to make them self-reliant. The scheme aims to help women stand on their own feet, secure a respectable position in society, and boost their confidence.

Six months after starting the work under the scheme, based on an evaluation, women may also receive additional support of up to ₹2 lakh. This initiative will help women independently start businesses and achieve financial security.
