Rahul Gandhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission. He stated that the Election Commission is misleading the public and attempting to conceal the reality of its voter data. Amidst this controversy, opposition MPs marched in Bihar against voter list revisions and alleged 'vote theft,' but police stopped them and took them into custody.
Election Commission Sends Notice to Rahul Gandhi
The Election Commission has taken a strict stance on allegations of irregularities in Karnataka's voter list. The Commission has written to Rahul Gandhi, demanding that he present evidence to support his allegations and sign an affidavit. The Election Commission has warned that if Rahul Gandhi fails to do so, he must retract his statements and cease misleading the public.
Responding to this notice, Rahul Gandhi stated, 'This is the Election Commission's data, not my data that I should sign.' He also stated that this problem is not limited to Bengaluru but is occurring in many constituencies across the country. He claimed that the Election Commission knows its data will 'explode,' so it is trying to hide and control it.
Rahul Gandhi's Allegations: 'The Election Commission is Misleading'
In a conversation with the media, Rahul Gandhi said, 'We have given this data to the Election Commission itself; they should put it on their website so that everyone can know the truth.' He also mentioned that this issue is not limited to Karnataka but that the problem of bogus voting exists in many regions across the country.
Rahul Gandhi stated that this fight is not political but is for the protection of the Constitution and democracy. He said that this is a fight for 'One Man, One Vote,' and he wants a clean and reliable voter list.
Opposition MPs' March and Police Action
Regarding this issue, on Monday, opposition MPs marched from Parliament to the Election Commission in Bihar against voter list revisions and vote theft. In addition to Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition MPs participated in this march.
However, police stopped the march near the PTI Building on Parliament Street by erecting barricades. Many MPs sat on the road and started chanting slogans. TMC's Mahua Moitra, Congress's Sanjana Jatav, and Jothimani, among other female MPs, climbed onto the barricades and started chanting slogans. The police put all the MPs on buses and took them to the Parliament Street police station, where they were detained. They were later released.
Rahul Gandhi's Claim
Rahul Gandhi said that his party's research found more than one lakh bogus votes in one assembly constituency in Karnataka. He alleged that the Election Commission is trying to hide this truth. He believes that if the Election Commission had worked honestly, this problem should have been exposed.
