The education of 78 children from the dilapidated government school in Mandania village of Kota district is now taking place in a temple courtyard. The education department has declared the building unsafe and promised to construct a new school.
Kota: The Government Upper Primary School in Mandania village of Kota district, Rajasthan, has now reached a dilapidated state. The roofs of five classrooms and the school office have suffered severe damage. Studying in these rooms has become impossible during the monsoon season. Keeping safety in mind, the education department has declared the school building unfit for use. Currently, the education of 78 children is being conducted in the courtyard of the village's local deity, Fafuji Maharaj's temple, to ensure their academic continuity is not interrupted.
Dilapidated School Poses Danger to Children
According to Ram Kalyan Nagar, former Sarpanch of Mandania village, the school building was constructed during the time of the Gram Panchayat administration and has now become dilapidated. During the rains, water drips from the roof, rendering the classrooms unusable for children. The school has five classrooms and one office, but they cannot be used safely.
The teachers and administration of the village have brought the problem to the attention of the local MLA and senior officials of the education department. The education department has issued a declaration of the building being unfit and has assured that a new building will be constructed soon. For now, temporary classrooms have been set up in the temple premises to ensure the safety of the children's education.
Children's Education Safe and Organized in the Temple
The school teacher, Preeti Soni, stated that children are being taught under a tin shed in the temple courtyard. This ensures the children's safety and the regular continuation of their studies. Adequate arrangements have been made within the temple premises to avoid inconvenience to the children.
She further mentioned that essential school supplies and records are still stored in the office of the dilapidated building. Once the new school building is ready, the office will be temporarily shifted to a rented space. Cooperation is being sought from the villagers for this, to ensure administrative work also continues safely.
Children's Safety and Education Remain a Priority
The children studying at the Mandania village school expressed that studying in the temple makes them feel safe. This temporary arrangement for 78 students has proven to be a relief. The teachers are paying full attention to both the children's safety and their education.
The school building has become dilapidated and is at risk of collapse at any time. Therefore, children and parents have appealed to the education department to construct a new school building. They believe that once they move into a new building, their education will become even more organized and secure.
Girls' Plea to the Government
Student Radhika Nayak and Ishika Prajapat from the school stated that they always felt fearful while studying in their old, dilapidated building. Now, with studies taking place in the temple, they feel safe, but their dream is for the new school to be completed as soon as possible.
The students have urged the government to provide them with the opportunity to continue their studies in their regular school once the new building is constructed. This will not only enhance the quality of their education but also ensure continuity in their learning.
