The process of building the Congress organization in Uttar Pradesh is proceeding at a slow pace. 90% of office bearers at the divisional level have been appointed, but the executive committee is incomplete. The delay in organization is affecting preparations for the Panchayat elections and the party's activity.
UP Politics: In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, the Congress has been trying to regain its lost support base for a long time. The party dissolved all its state-level committees last December to remove inactive office bearers and give opportunities to new faces. Although the process of organizational restructuring began in January, its pace has been extremely slow. This is the reason why Congress activities in districts and cities are still sluggish.
Incomplete Organizational Restructuring
According to party insiders, the selection of office bearers at the divisional level is about 90 percent complete. More than three lakh office bearers have been appointed so far. However, the announcement of the state executive committee has not yet been made. Party leaders state that the executive committee will be announced only after the process of organization building is completed. This delay will directly impact the preparations for the Panchayat elections.
Crisis of Action Plan and Timeline
State in-charge Avinash Pandey had created a 100-day action plan for organization building. It set a target to establish the organization up to the booth level by August 15. However, the work could not be completed on time. Following this, the deadline was extended to August 30, and now State President Ajay Rai is saying that the organizational work will be completed by the end of September. This continuously shifting timeline is raising questions about the party's seriousness.
Status of Frontal Organizations and War Room
The expansion of Congress's frontal organizations is also stalled. According to War Room in-charge Sanjay Dixit, the appointment of office bearers at the divisional level is almost complete. 133 district and city presidents have been made BLA-1. The appointment of BLA-2 is underway under their leadership. However, despite such large-scale appointments, the party is unable to show activity in districts and blocks.
Internal Strife Remains a Major Obstacle
Following the appointment of district and city presidents, voices of dissent have also risen within the Congress. Internal conflicts have surfaced over many names. This is the reason why the announcement of the state executive committee has been postponed. Senior leaders believe that until this internal disagreement is resolved, the party will not be able to achieve organizational strength.
Impact on Panchayat Elections
This slow pace of the Congress can directly affect the Panchayat elections. The Congress is already considered weak in rural areas, and its position could further weaken due to a lack of organizational strength. Party leaders say that if the organization building is not completed even by the end of September, the Congress could face significant losses in the Panchayat elections.
A Major Challenge for Congress
Strengthening the organization in a vast state like Uttar Pradesh is not an easy task for the Congress. The appointment of over three lakh office bearers is indeed an achievement, but until this structure becomes active at the ground level, its benefits will not be realized in elections. Internal strife and repeatedly postponed deadlines are the biggest challenges facing the party.
