The accused bride and touts had conspired to defraud the young man, causing him not only financial loss but also severe mental distress. The matter is now under police investigation, and a search for the accused bride and touts is underway.
Bride's Truth Revealed After Marriage
A few days after the wedding, Bakul took his bride Sulochani to Pune. There, Bakul's sister-in-law noticed pregnancy marks on the bride's abdomen. When questioned, Sulochani confessed to her previous marriage, the death of her first husband, and the existence of a lover in Jaipur.
Hearing this, Bakul was devastated. He also learned that the bride had entered the marriage solely for her own benefit. Bakul immediately tried to ascertain the truth from Sulochani, but the bride attempted to evade the conversation and deceive him.
Young Man Trapped by Touts
Investigation revealed that Bakul's marriage was arranged through touts. Bakul's brother, Subhash, had sent Sulochani's photo from Chhattisgarh to his acquaintances, Mahendra, Kamlesh, and Kamal in Ajmer, promising to arrange the marriage.
Bakul transferred approximately ₹2.20 lakh to the touts' accounts. Following this, the wedding took place at the Arya Samaj temple in Ajmer, with the bride's father and brother also present. The groom was unaware of the entire scheme and was fully prepared for the wedding.
Bride Absconds at Vadodara Station
After learning the truth, Bakul was returning to Ajmer with the bride. En route, at Vadodara railway station around four in the morning, he woke up to find the bride had disappeared. She had absconded with jewelry, cash, and clothes.
Bakul filed a complaint at the railway station. The incident caused Bakul significant mental and financial distress. This case highlights not only the severity of fraud in the name of marriage but also how touts ensnare people for profit.
Investigation into Marriage Scam
Bakul's lawyer, Shailendra Singh, stated that instead of returning the money, the touts began threatening him. They also threatened to implicate Bakul in false cases. Subsequently, the Civil Lines police station registered a case against Sulochani Yadav, her father and brother, as well as touts Mahendra Chaudhary and Kamal.
Police officials revealed they are working to ascertain how many marriages have been arranged through this network and how many people are involved. The arrest of the accused is expected soon. Police advised that awareness and vigilance are crucial in such cases to protect people from fraud in the future.
