Nitish Kumar Says He Wants to Become Rajya Sabha Member and Will Support New Bihar Government

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has issued his first response to discussions regarding a possible move to the Rajya Sabha, stating that he wishes to become a member of the Upper House this time and will extend full cooperation and guidance to the new government that may be formed in Bihar.

Responding to speculation in Bihar’s political circles, Nitish Kumar clarified his position through a post on the social media platform X, stating that he intends to become a member of the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming election.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that the people of Bihar have maintained trust and support in him for more than two decades. On the basis of that trust, he said, he has attempted to serve the state and its people. He added that with public cooperation Bihar has established new dimensions of development and dignity.

Subheading: Public Trust Described as His Greatest Strength

Nitish Kumar stated that the continued support of the people of Bihar has been his greatest strength. He said that public confidence enabled the advancement of several development initiatives in the state and contributed to the emergence of a new identity for Bihar.

He wrote that he has expressed gratitude to the people for their support on several occasions in the past and that the relationship with the public will remain b in the future as well. He added that the commitment undertaken for the development of Bihar will continue.

Subheading: Reference to Long-Standing Parliamentary Aspiration

In his post, Nitish Kumar also referred to the beginning of his political journey. He said that when he began his parliamentary career, he had an aspiration to become a member of both Houses of the Bihar Legislature as well as both Houses of Parliament.

With that aspiration in mind, he stated that he now wishes to become a member of the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming election. His statement indicated that the decision to seek a Rajya Sabha seat is part of a long-standing personal aspiration rather than a sudden development.

Subheading: Assurance of Cooperation to a New Government

Nitish Kumar also stated that if a new government is formed in Bihar, it will receive his full cooperation and guidance. He said that the goal of Bihar’s development remains his foremost priority and that he will continue to remain active toward that objective.

He wrote that his relationship with the people will continue and that collective efforts will be made for the development of the state. He added that the commitment to building a developed Bihar will remain unchanged.

Subheading: Discontent Among JD(U) Workers

Following the Chief Minister’s statement expressing his desire to enter the Rajya Sabha, some workers of the Janata Dal (United) expressed dissatisfaction. A group of workers staged a protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna and voiced their concerns.

The protesting workers said that Nitish Kumar has served the people of Bihar from the time of the student movement to the present and that many people regard him as a member of their family. According to them, his leadership as Chief Minister remains the most appropriate for the state.

The protesters stated that they want Nitish Kumar to continue as Chief Minister and lead the state. They said that Bihar has experienced stability and development under his experience and leadership.
