Aligarh: The police department in Aligarh has carried out a reshuffle as part of changes in the responsibilities and jurisdictions of several police personnel. Following the changes, the concerned officers have been directed to take charge of their new postings immediately.
As part of the reshuffle, Rajiv Kumar has been removed from the post of Station House Officer at Bannadevi police station and appointed as the Inspector-in-Charge of Kotwali police station.
Rajiv Kumar was previously posted at Bannadevi police station. He will now take charge of Kotwali police station, where responsibilities include maintaining law and order and responding to complaints within the area.
The Kotwali area includes important parts of the city, including markets, commercial establishments and densely populated areas. Police personnel are required to maintain law and order in these areas, with additional vigilance needed during festival periods, crowded market hours and traffic-related situations.
Following his new posting, Rajiv Kumar will have to familiarise himself with the policing arrangements in the area and review pending cases. Action in old criminal cases, arrests of wanted accused, prevention of incidents such as theft and robbery, and increased patrolling in sensitive areas may form part of the priorities associated with the new responsibility.
Following Rajiv Kumar's removal from Bannadevi police station, policing in that area will continue under the new arrangement. Regular police patrolling and monitoring of suspicious activities will continue as part of maintaining law and order.
Police department reshuffles involve changes in postings as well as efforts to improve the functioning of different police stations and make policing more effective. Officers posted to new areas assess the local crime situation and available police resources before determining further action.
With Aligarh's population increasing and the city expanding, policing challenges have also increased. These include crowded markets, traffic pressure, cybercrime, theft and property disputes, along with maintaining women's safety and law and order in public places.
Rajiv Kumar's new responsibility at Kotwali requires police to respond promptly to complaints and maintain regular monitoring of markets and public places. Hearing complainants at the police station and disposing of complaints within the prescribed timeframe are also part of police functioning.
Following the new posting, local residents will also observe how policing changes in the area. Police action against criminals and the response to complaints from residents will remain relevant aspects of the new arrangement.
After the transfers announced by the police department, the concerned officers and personnel are required to assume charge at their new locations within the prescribed time. They will then take responsibility for their respective areas and review the law-and-order situation.
Rajiv Kumar's appointment at Kotwali is among the changes in the Aligarh police reshuffle. After moving from Bannadevi to Kotwali, he will take responsibility for policing in the new area and crime-control measures. The impact of the new posting on policing and police action in the area may become evident in the coming days.
