Government and Opposition Clash Over CISF Deployment in Rajya Sabha

The opposition and the government have come face to face in the Rajya Sabha regarding the deployment of CISF personnel. Union Minister Rijiju has accused the opposition of disrupting the dignity of Parliament and spreading lies.

Kiren Rijiju: What happened in the Rajya Sabha on Monday and Tuesday has raised a big question on the dignity and decorum of Parliament. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has reacted bly to the heated arguments, accusations, and repeated disruptions in the proceedings of the House between the opposition and the government. He has accused the opposition of not only misleading the Parliament but also confusing the people of the country.

What happened inside the House?

On Tuesday, there was a huge uproar in the Rajya Sabha when opposition parties objected to the alleged deployment of CISF personnel in the well of the House. Reacting bly to this, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the opposition was deliberately spreading false information. Talking to the media outside Parliament House, he clarified that no external security force was deployed inside the House. Only marshals were present, in accordance with the rules of Parliament.

Rijiju said that under the rules, only members, staff, and marshals are allowed inside Parliament. He accused the opposition of undermining the dignity of the House by spreading falsehoods through the media.

Controversy over Mallikarjun Kharge's letter

The uproar began over a letter written by Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, to the Deputy Chairman. Rijiju objected to this letter during the discussion and said that the opposition was raising an issue based on false facts through this letter. He said that such efforts are not only against the rules, but also hurt the dignity of Parliament.

Heated debate between JP Nadda and Kharge

There was also a heated debate between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader JP Nadda and senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge in the Rajya Sabha. Kharge alleged that the BJP government had deployed CISF personnel in the well of the Rajya Sabha. He said that the presence of security personnel while members were protesting has undermined democratic processes.

Kharge said, "We are surprised and shocked at how CISF personnel were sent into the well of the House. We saw this scene yesterday as well and it was repeated again today. This is unacceptable. We bly condemn it and hope that this will not happen again."

Government's clarification: No external force

On behalf of the government, Kiren Rijiju said that this allegation of the opposition is completely baseless. He said that no CISF personnel were deployed inside Parliament. Only marshals were appointed for the operation of the House, which is completely in accordance with the rules. He said that the opposition is deliberately disrupting the proceedings of Parliament so that important bills cannot be discussed.

Legislative work disrupted in Parliament

Rijiju also said that this is the third week of the Parliament session, but so far no important bill has been passed. Giving an example, he said that only the Shipping Bill has been passed in the Rajya Sabha, while the statutory proposal related to President's rule in Manipur has been passed in the Lok Sabha. This proposal is also to be passed in the Rajya Sabha. He appealed to the opposition not to disrupt the proceedings of Parliament and to cooperate in the interest of the public.

Respect the expectations of the public: Rijiju

The Union Minister said that the people of the country have sent all the MPs to Parliament so that they can work for them. If there is only opposition and uproar in Parliament, then policy decisions and development works will be affected. He appealed to the major opposition parties to maintain the dignity of Parliament and not obstruct legislative work.
