Ranbir Kapoor Begins Shooting ‘Ramayan 2’ in Mumbai; Sunny Deol to Join as Hanuman

Ranbir Kapoor has begun shooting for the film ‘Ramayan 2’ in Mumbai. The sequel will feature Sunny Deol as Hanuman, while Ranbir Kapoor appears in the role of Lord Ram.

The main shooting schedule for the project is planned between March and May 2026. The upcoming schedule includes key scenes featuring Lord Ram and Hanuman that form important narrative developments within the story. The film is targeting a theatrical release during Diwali 2026.

Ranbir Kapoor is expected to complete filming for his portions of ‘Ramayan 2’ between March and May 2026. His current schedule is focused primarily on this project. Production flexibility has been possible due to delays in the schedule of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Love and War’.

For the role, Ranbir Kapoor has adopted a clean-shaven look designed for the portrayal of Lord Ram.

Sunny Deol is expected to join the shoot around March 20. Following his arrival, several action and dialogue sequences involving Hanuman and Lord Ram are scheduled to be filmed as part of the main production timeline.

‘Ramayan’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a large-scale film project with a reported budget of ₹4000 crore and includes participation from several Hollywood artists.

In the first installment, Ranbir Kapoor portrays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi appears as Mata Sita, and Yash plays the role of Ravana. In the second installment, Sunny Deol joins the cast as Hanuman.
