South and Bollywood's famous actress Rashmika Mandanna is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘The Girlfriend’. Recently, her previous film ‘Thama’ performed excellently at the box office, after which fans are now eagerly awaiting her new film.
Entertainment News: Popular South and Bollywood actress Rashmika Mandanna has reacted to the ongoing 8-hour shift controversy in the film industry. In a recent interview, she stated that overworking is not only physically exhausting but can also be mentally detrimental.
Rashmika is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘The Girlfriend’, which is set to release in cinemas on November 7th. During this, she openly discussed working hours and work-life balance.
Rashmika Mandanna Says — “Overworking is Wrong”
The actress said in an interview with Gulte,
'I work too much, and it's not right at all. Don't do that. Do what's right for you. If you work 8 hours, or even 9-10 hours, that's fine — but overworking is wrong. Later, it affects your health and life.'
She further added that she wants the film industry to adopt a '9 to 6' schedule, similar to a corporate structure. This would bring balance not only to the lives of actors but also technicians and the entire team. "This change is very important in the industry," she added.
How Did the 8-Hour Shift Controversy Begin?

This controversy began when Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone demanded an 8-hour shift on film sets after the birth of her daughter. According to reports, when her demand was not met by the production team of the film ‘Spirit’, Deepika left the project. Since then, this issue has rapidly trended on social media.
Many actors, crew members, and filmmakers have expressed their opinions on this — some called it a "necessary reform," while others stated that "the nature of the film industry is different, and a fixed schedule is not possible here." Now Rashmika Mandanna has also joined this debate, calling it "a necessary step from a humanitarian perspective."
Rashmika Believes — 'Balance is Most Important in Life'
Rashmika stated in the interview that actors often cannot dedicate time to their personal lives due to shooting schedules and professional commitments. "We are all human. When you work day and night, you lose yourself. I believe the balance between work and rest is most important. Only a healthy mind and body can deliver better performance," she said.
She added that everyone working in the industry should understand that prolonged overwork increases mental and physical fatigue, which negatively impacts creativity.
Rashmika Has High Hopes for 'The Girlfriend'
Rashmika Mandanna's next film ‘The Girlfriend’ will be released on November 7. Dhikshith Shetty will be seen in the lead role alongside her in this film.
Regarding the film, Rashmika said, "This story will touch every girl's heart. It is an emotional and realistic film that will showcase both love and self-respect."
This film is special for her as it is considered the beginning of a new phase in her career. Rashmika, who has delivered continuous hits from South to Bollywood, now has high expectations from the pan-India audience.
