Russia Launches Massive Overnight Attack on Kyiv with Drones and Missiles

Russia launched 550 drones and missiles at Kyiv overnight. The attack involved Shahed drones and cruise missiles, resulting in 23 injuries. Ukraine claims to have shot down 279 drones. Significant damage occurred in Kyiv.

Russia Ukraine War: Amidst the Russia-Ukraine war, Russia launched a fierce attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on Friday night. In this attack, Russia targeted several locations with drones and missiles. Twenty-three people were injured in the attack on Kyiv. The Ukrainian air defense system claimed to have shot down 279 drones and two cruise missiles during the attack.

550 drones and missiles launched in a single night

The Russian Air Force reported that they launched a total of 550 drones and missiles towards Ukraine in a single night. These included a large number of Iranian-made Shahed drones and 11 missiles. The Ukrainian military stated that most of the targets of the attack were identified, and a large number of attacks were thwarted.

Panic due to explosions and gunfire in Kyiv

During the attack, the sounds of continuous explosions, drones, and machine gun fire were heard in Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attack was very serious, and Kyiv was the main target. Fourteen of the 23 injured people were hospitalized.

Major attacks have occurred previously

A week earlier, Russia had also launched a major air strike on Ukraine. In that attack, Russia launched 537 drones and 60 missiles. During that time, damage was caused in more than 10 areas of Kyiv. Specifically, a five-story building was partially destroyed in the Solomianskyi district, and a seven-story building's roof caught fire.
