Saiyaara Poised to Overtake Sky Force: A Bollywood Box Office Showdown

Indian women's cricket team all-rounder Deepti Sharma has made a significant leap in the latest ICC ODI rankings, thanks to her outstanding performance. She has jumped 10 places to secure the 23rd position on Tuesday.

Saiyaara VS Sky Force Collection: The excitement at the Bollywood box office is currently at its peak. On one side, there's B-town superstar Akshay Kumar's patriotic film Sky Force, and on the other, newcomers Ahan Pandey and Anit Padda's musical-romantic drama Saiyaara, which has created a sensation in its first 5 days. Now, the competition has reached an interesting point — Saiyaara is just 2 crore away from surpassing Sky Force's lifetime collection.

Saiyaara's Stormy Opening and Growing Hold

Ahan Pandey and Anit Padda's Saiyaara had a tremendous opening of 21 crore on its first day, which not only surprised film critics but also exceeded audience expectations. The heartwarming music, the fresh chemistry of the new pair, and the b storyline drew audiences to the theaters.

Even on working days, Saiyaara's earnings saw a rise instead of a fall. The film has touched the 132.25 crore mark in just five days of its release, which is considered record-breaking for a debut film.

Sky Force: A Patriotic Flight, But...

Speaking of Sky Force, this film was also much talked about at the beginning of 2025. Based on the 1965 India-Pakistan air strike, this patriotic film featured Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya. The film garnered critical acclaim along with a good opening and recorded a total lifetime box office collection of ₹134.93 crore.

However, after its release, the film's momentum gradually slowed down, especially in multiplexes and metro cities. Despite this, Akshay Kumar's fans appreciated the film and gave it a respectable place.

Just 2 Crore Away from a Record-Breaking Moment

Now that Saiyaara has crossed the 132.25 crore mark on its fifth day, it only needs 2.68 crore to break Sky Force's lifetime record. According to current trends, Saiyaara could surpass this record by its sixth or seventh day. Box office trade experts believe that if the audience turnout remains consistent over the weekend, Saiyaara could become the first debut film of the year to enter the 150 crore club.

Ahan Pandey's sensational entry is not only a good sign for his career but also for the future of Bollywood. Audiences have been looking for new faces for a long time, and Saiyaara has fulfilled that hope. On the other hand, seasoned artists like Akshay Kumar are now facing direct competition from young stars.
