Allahabad High Court to Hear Bail Plea of SP MLA Zahid Beg in Minor's Death Case

Zahid Beg, the Samajwadi Party MLA from Bhadohi, is once again embroiled in legal complications. The Allahabad High Court is scheduled to hear his bail plea today in connection with the case of keeping a minor domestic help and the suspicious death of a minor girl found at his residence. The case surfaced in September 2024, and the MLA is currently incarcerated. A single bench of the High Court, comprising Justice Sameer Jain, is hearing the petition. Previously, the government counsel requested a week's time from the court to present a complete record of Zahid Beg's criminal history.

Minor's Body Found in a Closed Room

The case dates back to September 9, 2024, when the body of a minor girl was recovered under suspicious circumstances from a closed room at MLA Zahid Beg's house. Subsequently, an FIR was registered in this matter at the Bhadohi police station on September 13. During the investigation, the police discovered that another minor girl was also working as a domestic help at the MLA's residence. The police immediately freed her and initiated action.

Previously Granted Bail in One Case

It is worth noting that Zahid Beg had previously been granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in the case of his maid, Nazia's suicide. In that case, the deceased's family did not level any allegations against the MLA, and no evidence was presented in court to confirm incitement to suicide.

Tremors in Political Circles

The emergence of this new case has stirred up activity not only in Bhadohi but throughout the state's political landscape. The opposition is questioning the government and the law and order situation, while the SP MLA's legal battle continues. It remains to be seen what decision the High Court will make regarding the bail plea in this serious matter.
