Four to five assailants brutally beat up sevadar Yogendra Singh (35) with sticks and fists, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The deceased was a resident of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and had been serving at the temple for the past 15 years. Police have apprehended one accused and are actively searching for the remaining culprits.
Dispute Over Prasad Claims a Life
According to the police, the incident occurred around 9:30 PM on August 29, when a disagreement over asking for prasad began. The argument quickly turned violent, and the assailants attacked the sevadar with sticks and fists. After sustaining severe injuries, he was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life could not be saved.
Local residents stated that the altercation escalated so suddenly that no one could comprehend what was happening. Devotees present at the scene were terrified, and chaos ensued within the temple premises.
Deceased Was Serving for 15 Years
The deceased, Yogendra Singh, hailed from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and had been serving as a sevadar at Kalkaji Temple for the past 15 years. His untimely death has caused profound grief among locals and devotees.
Following the incident, locals apprehended one accused, Atul Pandey (30), and handed him over to the police. The police have registered an FIR and commenced an investigation, with the search for the other accused ongoing.
