Shibu Soren death: Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Shibu Soren, passed away on Monday, August 4th, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Shibu Soren, who had been suffering from kidney disease for a long time, had been on life support for the past month. His death was confirmed by his son and current Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, via an X post. He wrote, "Respected Dishom Guruji has left us all. I feel empty today."
Prime Minister Modi Pays Last Respects
As the news of Shibu Soren's death spread, reactions from leaders across the country began to pour in. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi and paid tribute to Shibu Soren. During the meeting with the Prime Minister at the hospital, Chief Minister Hemant Soren became emotional and could not hold back his tears.

"Visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to pay my respects to Shibu Soren Ji. Also met with his family. My condolences are with Hemant Ji, Kalpana Ji, and Shibu Soren Ji's admirers."
On Life Support for a Month
Shibu Soren had been unwell for the past several months. He was brought to Delhi due to a serious kidney problem and admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He had been on a ventilator for the past month, and his condition remained critical.
President, Amit Shah, and Other Leaders Express Grief
President Droupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and many other senior leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Shibu Soren. Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on X:
"The news of the demise of Shri Shibu Soren Ji, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, is extremely saddening. He struggled for decades for the rights and empowerment of the tribal community. May God grant the departed soul a place at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family and fans to bear this sorrow."
Shibu Soren's Role in Jharkhand Politics
Shibu Soren was considered the voice of the tribal community in Jharkhand politics. He fought a long battle for the rights of tribals, from the establishment of the state of Jharkhand. He was also known by the title 'Dishom Guru'. He not only laid the foundation of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha but also played an important role in politically awakening the tribal community.
Hemant Soren's Reaction
Paying tribute to his father, Shibu Soren's son and current Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that this is an irreparable loss not only for his family but for the entire Jharkhand. He wrote on X, "Today Jharkhand has lost its patriarch. The passing of Dishom Guruji is the end of an era for me."
Preparations for the Funeral
Shibu Soren's mortal remains will be brought to Ranchi from Delhi. The Jharkhand government has declared a two-day state mourning in the state. The national flag will fly at half-mast in government offices, and all government functions have been postponed.
