With the commencement of the holy month of Shravan, the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain has witnessed a surge of devotion and faith. On the very first day, Friday, the temple doors opened at 3 a.m., followed by the Panchamrit Abhishek and grand adornment of Baba Mahakal. The temple complex resonated with the sky-piercing chants of "Jai Shri Mahakal" on this occasion.
To provide a smooth darshan experience for devotees arriving from across the country, the temple administration has introduced a special darshan arrangement along with the commencement of mobile Bhasma Aarti. Devotees can now have divine darshan of Lord Mahakal while moving around, without prior permission, eliminating the need to stand in long queues.
Baba Mahakal's Divine Adornment, Including Tripund and Trinetra
Temple priest Pandit Mahesh Sharma informed that before the Bhasma Aarti, all the deity idols installed in the sanctum sanctorum were duly worshipped. Following this, the Panchamrit Abhishek of Lord Mahakal was performed, which included milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and fruit juice.
On this day, Baba was specially adorned, including the application of Tripund and Trinetra on his forehead. He was also garlanded with flowers and adorned with a new crown. During the Bhasma Aarti, the saints of the Mahanirvani Akhada applied ash on the Jyotirlinga in the traditional manner. Following this, Kapoor Aarti was performed, and offerings were made to the Lord.
Devotees began gathering at the temple from the morning itself to witness the divine form of Baba. Devotees had darshan and received blessings, and the atmosphere was filled with devotion through the chants of "Jai Shri Mahakal."
Relief for Devotees with the Mobile Bhasma Aarti Arrangement
Considering the increasing crowd during the month of Shravan, the temple administration has once again reinstated the mobile Bhasma Aarti arrangement this year. Under this arrangement, devotees can have darshan without any prior permission.
The temple management operated three darshan lines in the Kartikeya Mandapam, enabling more and more devotees to participate in the Aarti with ease. This mobile darshan arrangement not only helped control the crowd but also allowed devotees to have uninterrupted darshan of Baba.
