A speeding pickup vehicle ran over three youths riding a motorcycle in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, killing a किशोर on the spot and leaving two others critically injured.
According to information, the three youths were travelling on the same motorcycle when a speeding pickup vehicle coming from the opposite direction collided with them. The impact threw the riders off the motorcycle. Local residents rushed to the scene and assisted the injured, but one किशोर died at the spot.
Following the incident, local residents gathered at the site. Members of the crowd caught hold of the pickup driver and assaulted him. Some individuals also attempted to vandalise the vehicle. The situation escalated as protesters blocked the main road for approximately two hours, bringing traffic to a complete halt and causing long queues of vehicles on both sides.
Police reached the spot after receiving information and worked to bring the situation under control. Officers persuaded the crowd to disperse and cleared the road blockade. The two injured youths were admitted to a hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical. A team of doctors is providing treatment.
Police have seized the pickup vehicle and taken the driver into custody for questioning. Preliminary investigation has identified speeding as the primary cause of the accident.
Local residents stated that accidents frequently occur on the road due to speeding vehicles and alleged that no concrete measures have been taken by the administration. They demanded compensation for the deceased’s family and stricter speed control measures in the area.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and the body will be handed over to the family after postmortem examination.
