Sultanpur. An uproar ensued in the area on Monday morning near Semri market in the district after bovine remains, packed in sacks, were found in the Majhui river. Villagers informed the police upon seeing the sacks floating in the river. When the police team, arriving at the scene, retrieved the sacks, they discovered severed heads of cows inside.
As news of the incident spread, local residents gathered in large numbers. Activists from several Hindu organizations also arrived at the scene, bly protesting against the act. They demanded the swift identification of the culprits and strict action against them.
Initially, there was confusion regarding the jurisdiction of the case, but verification by the Lekhpal clarified that the incident site falls under the Samjhaulipur Kotwali police station area. Police have taken possession of the remains and initiated an investigation. Officials stated that a forensic investigation would also be conducted, given the seriousness of the matter.
Officials have assured that the culprits will be identified soon, and strict legal action will be taken against them. Given the tension in the area following the incident, police have deployed additional forces.
