A district-wide vaccination campaign has been launched in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to protect children against diphtheria, with immunisation being carried out across 357 schools and madrasas.
Under the special campaign led by the health department, a target has been set to administer booster doses to a total of 52,741 children to safeguard them from diphtheria infection, which is considered a serious communicable disease.
Health workers and medical teams are visiting schools and madrasas to carry out the vaccinations. Lists of eligible children had been prepared in advance to ensure that no child is excluded from receiving the vaccine.
Health officials stated that diphtheria is a serious disease that can prove fatal if timely vaccination is not administered, making the campaign essential for protecting children’s health.
School administrations and teachers are supporting the campaign by raising awareness among children and their parents about the importance of vaccination and encouraging participation.
Parents have also been urged to ensure timely vaccination of their children and to disregard any rumours. The health department has clarified that the vaccine is completely safe and does not cause any harm.
The district administration has arranged special monitoring to ensure smooth implementation of the campaign. Necessary medicines and medical facilities have been made available at all centres to avoid any issues during vaccination.
Special attention is being given to rural areas to ensure that children in remote locations also receive the benefits of the campaign.
Experts state that such vaccination drives play an important role in controlling diseases in society and contribute to building a healthy future for children.
