Sunil Narine, the spin wizard from West Indies, has achieved a historic milestone in the world of cricket. He has become the third bowler in the world to take 600 wickets in T20 cricket.
Sports News: Sunil Narine, who has troubled batsmen for a long time with his mysterious deliveries in T20, cricket's fastest format, has made history. This West Indies spinner has etched his name in the record books by becoming the third bowler in the world to claim 600 wickets in T20 cricket. He achieved this special feat on Wednesday in an ILT20 match playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders against Sharjah Warriors.
Narine's Brilliance
Narine achieved this feat in the ILT20 2025 match played on Wednesday, where he represented Abu Dhabi Knight Riders against Sharjah Warriors. For his 600th wicket, Narine dismissed Tom Abell. This wicket proved that Narine is not just a spinner, but one of the most impactful bowlers in T20 history.
The characteristic of T20 cricket is that batsmen try to score runs quickly, making it challenging for bowlers to take wickets. Narine consistently outwitted batsmen with his mystery ball, off-spin, carrom ball, and varying speeds, achieving this difficult record. Previously, this feat was accomplished by Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (681 wickets) and West Indies' Dwayne Bravo (631 wickets). Following Narine in this list is South Africa's Imran Tahir (570 wickets).
Narine Honored with 600-Numbered Jersey
On this historic occasion, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders franchise presented Narine with a special edition jersey bearing the number 600. This jersey was given to honor this unprecedented achievement in his career. Narine has played for various teams under the Knight Riders group for a long time, leading them to numerous victories. In a press release, the Knight Riders franchise stated that Narine's achievement is not only a moment of pride but will also be one of the longest-standing records in T20 history.
Sunil Narine has delivered decisive performances for his teams, playing for extended periods with Kolkata Knight Riders (IPL), Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC), and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
