The Supreme Court has allowed green crackers to be burst in Delhi-NCR for Diwali 2025. Permission is granted only from October 18 to 21, between 8 PM and 10 PM. Patrolling teams will be formed to monitor quality and safety.

Delhi: There's significant relief for Delhi-NCR residents this Diwali 2025. The Supreme Court has permitted the use of green crackers, subject to certain conditions. This order will provide people in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad an opportunity to celebrate Diwali in a safe and pollution-free manner. The Court's decision was made considering both environment and safety.

Period for Bursting Crackers

The Supreme Court clarified that green crackers can only be burst between October 18 and 21, 2025. Furthermore, crackers will be permitted only between 8 PM and 10 PM. The Court also stated that bringing crackers into the NCR region from outside is prohibited, and strict action will be taken in such cases. The Court ensured that the negative impact on air and the environment during Diwali is minimized.

Quality of Green Crackers

The Supreme Court has issued strict guidelines for the quality and safety of green crackers. Every green cracker will feature a QR code, which will be uploaded to the respective website. This will help consumers ensure they are purchasing only certified and safe crackers. The Court also stated that licenses for fake or low-quality crackers will be immediately suspended if found.

Responsibility of Patrolling Teams

The Supreme Court has directed that special patrolling teams will be formed for regular inspections of green cracker manufacturers and vendors. These teams will ensure that all manufacturers and vendors comply with the Supreme Court's rules. The monitoring by these patrolling teams will ensure public safety and pollution control during Diwali.

The Supreme Court referenced its order from October 14, 2024, when the Delhi government had imposed a complete ban on crackers. At that time, this ban was applicable across the entire NCR. This time, the Court has adopted a balanced approach, allowing green crackers for a limited duration and time. This will enable people to celebrate the festival while remaining environmentally conscious.
