Suresh Raina Summoned by ED in 1xBet Betting App Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a notice to former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina for questioning in connection with the 1xBet betting app case. The ED has summoned him to appear at its headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday.

Sports News: Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina appears to be in trouble. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned him for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the 1xBet betting app. This questioning will take place on Wednesday at the ED headquarters in Delhi. According to sources, Suresh Raina has been the brand ambassador of this betting app, and the notice has been sent to him in connection with the same.

The ED is currently investigating illegal online betting apps and their associated money laundering networks, in which the names of several cricketers and Bollywood celebrities have surfaced.

What is the 1xBet Betting App Case?

1xBet is an online betting platform where bets are placed on sports events, casino games, and other activities. Online betting is considered illegal in many states in India and violates gambling laws. The ED's investigation has revealed that this app was promoted extensively through social media platforms, and attempts were made to convert illegal earnings into white money through various channels. The ED is questioning celebrities involved in this promotion.

Film Celebrities Also Under Investigation

Not only cricketers, but also several film stars are on the radar of the ED and the police in this case. The Miyapur police in Hyderabad recently registered a case against 25 people, including actors Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Manchu Lakshmi, and Nidhi Agarwal. Earlier, on March 17, the West Zone Police of Hyderabad registered criminal cases against 11 people, including three women, for promoting betting apps through social media.

Police Statement and Concern

Police officers say that betting apps not only promote gambling habits but also pose a serious threat to society. These platforms specifically target young people and adults. By providing easy betting facilities, they give unemployed and economically weak youth the false hope that they can earn money quickly.

In the long run, this addiction leads to problems like financial crisis, debt, and mental stress. The police have clearly stated that no one should promote illegal betting apps, whether directly or indirectly.
