Yogendra Singh, who had served at the temple for approximately 15 years, allegedly refused the attackers' demand by stating that the prasad had run out. Following this, the accused dragged Singh outside and beat him mercilessly with sticks and fists until he became unconscious. The scene of this violence was captured on CCTV cameras, which Swara Bhasker later shared.
Swara wrote along with the video, "This is extremely horrific and dangerous. Lynching has become commonplace in India. It is shameful and concerning for our society. We have become completely cruel and like demons."
