US President Donald Trump claimed that the India-Pakistan war ended in five hours and that he would stop it if it started again. Rahul Gandhi cornered PM Modi, while India rejected Trump's claims.
New Delhi: US President Donald Trump made a significant claim on Tuesday that he ended the ongoing war between India and Pakistan in just 5 hours. Trump said he clearly warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if the two countries did not agree to a ceasefire, the US might withdraw from trade agreements and impose heavy tariffs.
Trump said in a conversation with reporters, "Maybe this war will start again, but if it does, I'll stop it." This statement has created a stir in Indian politics. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted PM Modi, questioning whether the war was actually stopped without any foreign intervention.
Rahul Gandhi questioned India's foreign policy
In his rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Rahul Gandhi said that Trump himself stated that he gave PM Modi a 24-hour ultimatum to stop the war, but Modi succeeded in stopping the war in just 5 hours. Rahul Gandhi described this as an opportunity to question India's foreign policy.
Rahul Gandhi said, "Trump said, when the war was going on between India and Pakistan, I told Modi to stop it immediately, and he stopped everything in just five hours." His statement promotes debate on the Modi government's strategies and decisions in foreign affairs.
Trump gives statement on stopping war and trade
Trump also claimed that he stopped a total of 7 wars worldwide, including the India-Pakistan war. He stated that he stopped these four wars through trade and tariffs. Trump said, "Seven planes or even more were shot down, but I did not clarify which country's planes they were."
His statement came a few hours before the 50 percent duty was imposed in America, which made it a topic of discussion. According to him, he said during his conversation with Prime Minister Modi that if the war continued, the US would not make any trade agreement.
India denies Trump's claims
India has completely denied Trump's claims. The government says that the decision to end hostilities with Pakistan was taken after direct communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both armies. Prime Minister Modi clarified in Parliament that no foreign leader intervened to stop Operation Sindoor.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also said that there was no third-party intervention during Operation Sindoor and the end of the war was entirely the result of a bilateral decision between India and Pakistan.
