Trump Mocks NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani; Mayor Responds on Immigrant Contributions and Challenges Former President

Trump mocked Mamdani in Miami but did not name him. He stated that New York's situation was endangered after the mayoral election. Mamdani responded by saying that New York has always been strengthened by immigrants and diversity.

America: There has been a long-standing animosity between former US President Donald Trump and New York City's newly elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani was recently elected Mayor of New York City and is the first Muslim and South Asian mayor. Following this, Trump mocked him, though he did not directly name Mamdani.

Speaking at the 'America Business Forum' in Miami, Florida, Trump stated that 'whatever his name is,' the American public now has to choose between 'leftism and common sense.' He also claimed that after the mayoral election on November 4th, the American public has lost some of its sovereignty.

Trump Takes Aim at Mamdani

In his speech, Trump presented Mamdani's victory as a threat to New York. He warned, 'You'll see what happens in New York, it will be terrible, I hope it doesn't happen, but you'll see.' Trump also stated that Mamdani, or 'whatever his name is,' believes that men playing in women's sports is fantastic.

The former President had previously stated that Mamdani's victory could lead to 'complete economic and social devastation' in New York City. Trump's statement came at a time when Mamdani, in his speech, emphasized the contributions of the city's immigrants and said that New York has always been b because of immigrants.

Mamdani's Response

Zohran Mamdani responded to Trump's criticism in his speech, stating that New York 'will always be a city built by immigrants, run by immigrants, and now an immigrant will lead it.' Amidst applause, he added, 'After all, if anyone can show a country betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is New York.' Mamdani also said that the best way to deter a dictator is to eliminate the very circumstances that helped him gain power.

Trump Criticizes Mamdani's Speech

In an interview with 'Fox News' in Miami, Trump described Mamdani's speech as 'very angry.' He stated that Mamdani started off in the wrong direction and that his chances of success are unlikely if he does not show respect to Washington.

Trump said, 'Yes, I thought it was a very angry speech, where anger against me was clearly evident. I believe he should treat me well. You know, I'm the one who approves many things that come to him. So he started off in the wrong direction.'
