Ujjain Police Busts Counterfeit Currency Ring Using CPUs and Color Printers

Ujjain Police has busted a gang of six members involved in printing counterfeit currency. The gang used CPUs and color printers to print fake notes on butter paper, which they then sold as genuine currency at a rate of ₹30,000 for ₹1 lakh worth of notes.

Ujjain: The police have exposed a cunning gang involved in printing counterfeit currency. Police have arrested a total of six accused and seized fake notes worth ₹5 lakh, a CPU, a color printer, butter paper, and other equipment from their possession. The accused used to sell the printed notes in the market at a 30% discounted price. This revelation has highlighted the proactive approach of the Ujjain police and dealt a significant blow to the counterfeit currency trade.

Accused in Counterfeit Note Gang Arrested

Two members of the gang used a CPU and a color printer to print notes of ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500 denominations on butter paper. These were then sold in the market at a 30% rate. The accused would spend only ₹30,000 to buy fake notes worth ₹1 lakh. The recovery of such notes made it clear that the gang was operating in a highly organized manner.

Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma stated that the arrested accused include Shubham (22 years), Shekhar (31 years), Prahlad (54 years), Kamlesh (48 years), and Durgesh Dabi. Their accomplice, Sunil Patil, is currently imprisoned. Sunil has already served a 10-year sentence for a previous counterfeiting case.

How the Incident Was Uncovered

The gang was exposed when Hiralal, a resident of Amar Deep Nagar, filed a complaint with the police. According to Hiralal, he runs an electronics goods business. A customer named Durgesh came to buy a washing machine and mobile phone and paid ₹23,000 using counterfeit notes. Noticing the discrepancies in the notes, Hiralal informed the Madhav Nagar police.

The police took immediate action and apprehended Durgesh. During interrogation, he revealed the identities of other gang members and the entire process of printing fake notes. Following this, the police arrested Shubham, Shekhar, Prahlad, and Kamlesh. This operation exposed the roots of the counterfeit note-circulating gang in Ujjain.

Jail Connections Lead to Counterfeit Note Business

The police reported that the main kingpins, Prahlad and Kamlesh, had previously served jail time for NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases. While incarcerated, they met Sunil Patil, who was already involved in the counterfeit currency business. After being released on bail, the trio began printing fake currency again.

Sunil Patil alone printed approximately ₹18 lakh worth of counterfeit notes. So far, the police have only managed to recover notes worth ₹5 lakh, and the search for the remaining ₹13 lakh worth of notes is ongoing. Officials are diligently working towards the complete apprehension of this gang and curbing the circulation of counterfeit currency.

Ujjain Police Takes Strict Action Against Counterfeit Note Gang

The equipment seized from the accused by the police includes a CPU, color printer, butter paper, a scale, and chemical materials. All these tools were used in the printing of counterfeit notes. SP Pradeep Sharma stated that the Ujjain police will maintain strict surveillance on such gangs and will not allow any form of counterfeit currency to circulate in the market.

Authorities have informed that the arrested accused will be produced in court, and investigations are continuing to recover the remaining counterfeit notes. This action serves as a warning to those involved in circulating fake currency in Ujjain and highlights the vigilance of the security agencies.
