Uttar Pradesh is finally proceeding with the long-pending recruitment of 29,334 Assistant Teachers for Math and Science in upper primary schools, following a Supreme Court directive. Counseling and appointment processes

Prayagraj, October 30, 2025 — An advertisement has been issued for the recruitment of 29,334 Assistant Teacher posts for Mathematics and Science subjects in the upper primary schools (Council-run) of Uttar Pradesh. According to departmental sources, this recruitment was pending for several years — the selection process had been stalled due to various reasons after commencing on July 11, 2013.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court of India had issued orders on January 29 that candidates selected in this recruitment who had achieved the minimum cut-off marks should receive appointments.

A total of 29,334 posts have been allocated for Mathematics and Science subjects.

So far, selection advertisements have been issued for over 1,700 posts in the recruitment process.

Candidates for this recruitment have fought a legal battle for years.

The Education Council has issued instructions that appointment letters for selected candidates should be made available to the concerned officials.

For districts from which details have not been received, their BSAs (Basic Shiksha Adhikari - Basic Education Officer) have been instructed to submit reports as soon as possible, so that the counseling and appointment process can be completed on time.
