The Uttar Pradesh Government Launches the Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Scholarship Scheme. 5 Talented Students Will Receive Full Scholarships Annually for Master's Degrees in the UK.
UP Atal Scholarship: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a special international scholarship scheme in the name of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The aim is to provide meritorious students of the state with opportunities on the global stage for higher education. Under this scheme, five talented students will be awarded scholarships each year for master's degrees at prestigious universities in the UK.
Scheme Launch
The scholarship was implemented under a historic agreement between the Uttar Pradesh government and the UK's 'The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office' (FCDO) on Tuesday. It has been named the 'Chevening-Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme'. The main objective of the scheme is to provide meritorious students with the opportunity to achieve excellence in education, research, and leadership at the international level.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this scheme will give the students of the state a chance to compete at the global level. Through this, not only will the level of education increase, but leadership skills and efficiency in the field of research will also develop in the students.
Facilities Included in the Scholarship
Under the scheme, selected students will be provided with complete financial assistance. This will include full tuition fees, examination, and research fees for studying in the UK. In addition, students will also receive a living allowance. The scheme also includes international travel expenses, allowing students to reach the UK safely and comfortably.
The total cost for each student will be approximately ₹45 to ₹48 lakh. The Uttar Pradesh government will bear ₹23 lakh of this amount, while the remaining amount will be sponsored by the UK's FCDO.
Scheme Duration and Renewal
The first phase of this scheme will begin from the academic session 2025-26 and will continue for the next three years (2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28). After three years, this scheme will be renewed based on re-evaluation and will be continued for the next phase as required.
Chevening Scholarship and UK's Cooperation
Under the scheme, the British High Commissioner to India, Ms. Lindy Cameron, signed the agreement in Lucknow in the presence of the Chief Minister. Describing the occasion as extremely important, she said that for the next three years, five students would get the opportunity to study in the UK on a full scholarship every year. This initiative will provide students of the state with the opportunity to achieve excellence in education and research at the international level.
Eligibility and Application Process
Students applying for the UP Atal Scholarship scheme will have to demonstrate high academic performance and leadership potential. Along with this, selected students will also have to prove the required qualifications and English language proficiency for a master's degree in the UK. The application process and eligibility criteria will be made available on the official website, from where students can submit their applications.
