Varanasi - The Prison Department has taken a significant step to further strengthen the security arrangements in the jails of Uttar Pradesh. 14 jails in the state will be monitored using drone cameras, while 22 jails will be provided with body-worn cameras and 58 jails will receive solar lights.

According to the Prison Department, monitoring jail premises through drones will make the security system more effective. This will allow continuous surveillance of activities inside and around the jail. Simultaneously, body-worn cameras will record the activities of jail guards on duty, facilitating investigations into any incidents and increasing transparency.

The jails to be monitored by drones include Varanasi, Fatehgarh, Etawah Central Jail, Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur Nagar, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Prayagraj, and Mathura.

The installation of solar lights in the jails will improve lighting arrangements at night and strengthen the security system. The Prison Department states that this initiative is an important step towards equipping jails with modern technology and further improving security standards.
