SSB Interview Procedure

The SSB Interview is the most important selection process for defense services. It is a five-day test that evaluates a candidate's physical fitness, mental ability, leadership skills, and decision-making capacity.

This interview primarily consists of two stages –

  • Screening Test: This includes Intelligence and Picture Perception Test (PPDT).
  • Psychological, Group Task, and Personal Interview: This assesses the candidate's personality, thinking process, and team spirit.

Successful candidates are further sent for a medical examination. Finally, the appointment process is completed based on the merit list.

CDS Examination

The CDS, or Combined Defence Services, examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Its objective is to recruit officers into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Through this examination, candidates get an opportunity for admission into four prestigious academies –

  • Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
  • Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
  • Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad
  • Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai

Candidates who clear the SSB Interview and medical fitness after passing the CDS examination are called for training in these institutions.
