UPTET Exam 2025: There's big news for candidates awaiting the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET). The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has announced the exam dates. After a long wait of three years, UPTET 2025 will now be conducted on January 29th and 30th, 2026, at various examination centers across the state. Prior to this, the exam was conducted in January 2022.

Announcement of Other Examinations

Along with UPTET, the commission has also announced the dates for other academic examinations.

  • PGT Written Examination: October 15th and 16th, 2025
  • TGT Examination: December 18th and 19th, 2025

Importance of the UPTET Examination

The UPTET examination is the first step towards becoming a teacher in Uttar Pradesh. This examination is a mandatory eligibility requirement for appointment to primary (classes 1 to 5) and upper primary (classes 6 to 8) teacher positions in government schools. Information on the Exam Pattern

The UPTET examination consists of two papers:

Paper-1: This examination is for candidates aspiring to become teachers for classes 1 to 5. It comprises a total of 150 multiple-choice questions from the following subjects:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language 1 (Hindi)
  • Language 2 (English/Urdu/Sanskrit)
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

Paper-2: This examination is for candidates aspiring to become teachers for classes 6 to 8. It also consists of a total of 150 multiple-choice questions, which are asked from these subjects:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy
  • Language 1
  • Language 2
  • Mathematics and Science (for those with a Science background)
  • Social Studies (for those with a Social Science background)

No Negative Marking

A notable feature of the UPTET examination is that there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. This is a positive aspect for candidates, allowing them to answer without fear.

Validity of Eligibility Certificate

Candidates who pass the examination will be issued an Eligibility Certificate, which will be valid for a lifetime. Previously, this certificate was valid for seven years, but this has now been changed.
