Southwest monsoon withdrawal has begun from Uttar Pradesh, and conditions are favourable for the monsoon to withdraw from the entire state within the next 48 hours. This year, monsoon rainfall in Uttar Pradesh has crossed 800 mm after 11 years, although rainfall levels have differed between eastern and western parts of the state.

According to the weather department, on October 1, 2026, the withdrawal line of the monsoon was passing through Muzaffarnagar and Aligarh. The southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw from the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh over the next two days.

With the withdrawal of the monsoon, weather conditions are expected to remain dry across several parts of the state. However, localised changes in weather may occur in some areas.

According to the IMD forecast, most parts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience dry weather between October 1 and 6. Light and scattered rainfall may occur in several parts of the state on October 7.

The weather department has also issued forecasts for eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. During the withdrawal of the monsoon, localised changes in weather may occur in some areas.

Monsoon rainfall in Uttar Pradesh has crossed the 800 mm mark this year after 11 years. However, rainfall conditions have not been uniform across different parts of the state.

Western Uttar Pradesh recorded 782.7 mm of rainfall during this monsoon season, compared with the normal rainfall of 672 mm. This means rainfall in western Uttar Pradesh was 17 percent above normal.

Rainfall continues in some parts of the state amid the withdrawal of the monsoon, while rising temperatures have led to humid conditions in several areas.

On Wednesday, Lucknow recorded a maximum daytime temperature of 32.2 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperatures in most districts of the state remained above normal. With the complete withdrawal of the monsoon, weather conditions are likely to remain dry over the next few days.
