After a prolonged period of intense heat, Uttar Pradesh has finally seen a change in weather patterns. Sunday witnessed a significant drop in temperature, bringing much-needed relief to the populace. Several areas in northern and western Uttar Pradesh experienced rainfall, mitigating the effects of the scorching heat.
UP Weather Update: Following ten consecutive days of intense sunshine and sweltering heat, the weather in Uttar Pradesh has taken a turn. Sunday saw light to moderate rainfall across various parts of the state, leading to a decrease in temperature and offering some respite from the oppressive heat. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and even hail in several districts over the next 24 to 48 hours. They have also predicted the arrival of the monsoon around June 18th.
The Heatwave is Ending
For the past week, Uttar Pradesh has been grappling with intense heat and humidity. Temperatures in many districts remained between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius. However, rainfall in the northern, western, and southwestern parts of the state on Sunday resulted in a temperature drop of 1 to 3 degrees. Varanasi recorded the highest temperature at 43.2 degrees on Sunday, followed by Orai at 42.6 degrees.
According to the Meteorological Department, relief from the humid heat is expected from June 16th onwards. From Monday, the heatwave's impact is expected to cease, and the weather will become pleasant with light to moderate rainfall.
