The Shooting Incident

Three people were injured in the shooting, including two National Guard members. The injured personnel were immediately admitted to the hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who is said to be an Afghan national. Police secured the area around the incident site and advised citizens to remain vigilant. Due to the promptness of the security forces, the assailant did not get a chance to flee far from the scene.

Halt on Immigration for Afghan Citizens

Following the attack near the White House, the US has taken a major step. All immigration requests for Afghan citizens have been temporarily halted. The Trump administration stated that security screening would be ensured for every Afghan citizen entering the United States.

Immediately after the shooting, security was heightened throughout the area. Additional National Guard and police forces were deployed. Nearby routes were closed, and citizens were advised to move to safe locations.
